Wollondilly Leisure Centre’s learn to swim program features 12 levels of progression, each based on ability and designed for continuous progression as your child advances.
Parent an Child
“Water familiarisation and confidence”
Squirts

From 6 to 18 months for first time babies learning to become familiar with the water
Squids

From 18 months to 3 years, this class develops kicking and paddling + basic safety and survival skills
Beginners
“Creating independence in the water & laying a sound foundation for stroke development”
Seals

First time without a parent. Learning to kick and paddle with a focus on safety and survival
Paddlers

For non swimmers with some confidence. Aiming for independence without a flotation aid
Kickers

For the child who can swim independently and is ready to learn streamlining and kicking drills.
Arms

10m of Freestyle & Backstroke basics withthe focus on arms and breathing drills
Intermediate
“Developing freestyle, backstroke & breaststroke through progressive skills & drills”
Breathers

12.5m freestyle & backstroke. Introducing bilateral breathing.
Swordfish

25m freestyle & backstroke. Introducingbreaststroke kick & dolphin kick.
Sharks

50m stroke correction for freestyle, backstroke & developing breaststroke.
Advanced
“Developing technique through stroke correction and specialised drills”
Whales

100m stroke correction in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and developing butterfly.
Dolphins

200m in all strokes with a focus on technique and endurance.
Elite Strokes
This 1 hour class is for fine tuning the strokes before moving into swim squad. (10+ students for the longer class)
